How and when will my CDs be shipped to me?
Products you have ordered will usually be posted within three working days - please see the New Zealand Post website for further information about delivery times. CDs will be posted from Wellington, New Zealand, in padded envelopes. If for any reason an item is out of stock we will contact you via email to keep you informed.
Why are only some products available as a digital download?
Only recordings where both the work and the published score used for performance are in the public domain are available as digital downloads, unless royalty payments for digital distribution have been paid by the artist. Royalty payments for physical and digital products are handled separately, and this is the responsibility of the artist to arrange. Royalty payments for public domain works/scores are not necessary, so they can be made available both digitally and as a physical product.
What is the difference between MP3, FLAC and WAV downloads?
Organism distributes files digitally in three different formats - MP3, FLAC and WAV.
MP3 (320k) - this is one of the most popular audio download formats, due to its wide compatibility with software and portable players and relatively low file size. The compromise with MP3 files is that they are 'lossy' - in order to make them so small, the encoding software chooses which is the most important data, and discards the rest. For many people the difference in quality is not noticeable, but it is not the same resolution as a CD.
FLAC (16bit 44.1khz) - this is a lossless audio format - that is, they provide the same sound quality as CDs. The size of the files are smaller than WAV (though still significantly larger than MP3). The primary advantage of FLAC over WAV is the smaller download size, but FLAC files can not be played by a number of mainstream software players and portable players. Most notably, iTunes can not currently play this format. For more information about FLAC files, please click here.
WAV (16bit 44.1khz) - as with FLAC, this is a lossless audio format, and are the same files used to create the production master disc for creating physical CDs. They are the largest sized files, but are also much more straightforward to play and convert when compared to FLAC.
Digital downloads are available in a variety of these formats - check the product description to see what is available. If more than one file type is available then you will receive multiple download links in the email so you can choose which one (or all!) to download.
What are .zip files?
Digital downloads on this site are compressed to a .zip file - this is a standard way of compressing multiple files into one file. Most computers are capable of extracting these, but you may need additional software such as 7-Zip.
Can you sell my CD on your site as well?
